The chart below highlights the tight relationship of gold with the US dollar this last week and, more importantly, the perceived impact of US economic data on the timing of Fed tapering. Economic data released Thursday (3rd) pointed to (at least in the market’s mind) early tapering, whereas the US employment report Friday (4th) pointed to continued Fed patience.
